Fiestas de Sant Joan
Every June, Ciutadella celebrates one of the most spectacular festivities in Spain. Sant Joan where horses take the leading role among all the people, and riders demonstrate their skills.
The festivity has a religious base, making its first appearance in XIV century. The riders take part of a procession leading to a chapel where they worship their saint. Each rider represents a historical estate; lords, clergy and the working class. The ages of the riders goes from seven years old all the way to eighty.
The festivity takes place on the days 21, 23 and 24.
